Hello and welcome to Baking with Bridget! It is a pleasure to “meet” you. I created my brand new website, Baking with Bridget, to share with you how to bake gluten-free. You won’t believe all of the delicious recipes and baking tips that are waiting for you!
I have been married to my best friend for 18 years (Gosh, I can’t believe its been that long. It has went by in the blink of an eye.).
Mom to an amazing son and daughter-in-law. Nana to a beautiful 7-year-old granddaughter.
I was raised in the Midwest on down-home cooking. Dining out was rare. Supper consisted of meat, potatoes, vegetables and Wonder Bread. My love for cooking and baking began in the 7th grade in Mrs. Norton’s Home Economics class. I loved everything there was to learn about taking care of a home, especially cooking and baking!
By the time I was 15, you could find me in the kitchen cooking most of the daily meals and meals for company! On the weekends, I would spend time baking cookies or cakes. My dad said after I left home he lost 10 pounds.
A Peek Inside My Life!
I am a down-to-earth, cookin’ from scratch kind
of gal. I love the simple things in life, including gardening, flowers, fabric, chocolate, vintage linens and dishes. In my spare time, I Promise Stitch (a historic form of hand quilting), hand embroidery, read, and spend time with my husband and dogs who love riding around in the desert. I try to create beauty in my life every day!
After being a single mom for almost 11 years, I met the man of my dreams! The week before we married, I left my job in the corporate world to take care of hubby and home school my son. I have been a domestic engineer ever since! I love, love, love being at home. It has been so rewarding!
I have been gluten-free since 2009. You know, becoming gluten-free can be overwhelming, scary and downright depressing! I thought I would never be able to bake or eat delicious desserts again. Boy, am I glad I was wrong. Looking back it has been an amazing journey! I never, ever imagined having my own website! Oh my gosh! In December 2106, I self-published my first ever gluten-free cookie cookbook! It was so much fun! I am currently working on my second cookbook. I hear so many people say how intimidated they are to bake gluten-free. So many family members and friends have told me how good my baked goods are. I have over 30 years experience in cooking and I wanted to share my knowledge of gluten-free baking with you. I love taking “gluten laden” recipes and converting them to gluten-free! While I have thought about owning my own bakery, my website is even better because I get to share my love of baking from my kitchen!
